Dorothea "Dotty" L. Vidal, Attorney

dortheaVidalMs. Vidal’s 25 years of experience encompasses complex business litigation, as well as business and personal injury torts. Recently, Ms. Vidal prevailed in a jury trial over a lawyer named one of the top 10 litigators in Dallas by “D” Magazine. In that case, she obtained a judgment of over $1,000,000 for the defendant including the second largest attorneys fee awarded in the county's history. In another case, Ms. Vidal set aside the sale of a business on behalf of a buyer based on fraud. She defeated, on summary judgment, multiple constitutional defenses raised in a high profile eminent domain case. She successfully tried to verdict a personal injury train-car wreck case for a defendant where the plaintiffs sought $80,000,000 in damages. The plaintiffs were represented in that case by a woman who has been named a SuperLawyer, and Trial Lawyer of the Year twice by two different associations. That defense success came just months after Ms. Vidal defended a fraud claim to a plaintiff take nothing judgment, and just one month after she won a First Amendment case on summary judgment. Before that, Ms. Vidal won a jury verdict for a business plaintiff in a complex horizontal veil piercing case. Ms. Vidal is particularly accomplished at UCC disputes, lender disputes, product liability, federal jurisdictional disputes, real estate disputes, creditor’s rights, release and indemnity issues, complex damage calculations, complex accident scenes as in train wrecks where the debris field may expand for miles and corporate veil piercing.

Ms. Vidal has argued cases before the Fifth and Ninth Circuits and the Dallas Courts of Appeals and has tried or otherwise disposed of cases in state and federal courts throughout Texas and in Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, Florida, New York, Massachusetts, Indiana, California, and Oregon.
